Cornwall Holiday - Day 1 - Lanhydrock

I'm back!! I have been on holiday in Cornwall for the past week and instead of posting it all in one entry, I have decided to post each day separately as there are a lot of photos which I want to show, and I don't want the one post to be very photo heavy (if you get what I mean). So ... on with the post.

Day 1 - Lanhydrock

As it is only Cornwall, we always drive down, and it takes around 4-5 hours without any stops and no traffic but we always decide to stop for a bite to eat at one of the many services (rest stops) we drive past. This time however it took around 7-10 hours (I can't remember what time we got to the caravan - whoops) due to stopping for food and visiting a National Trust place called Lanhydrock on the way.

If you don't Know what the National Trust is, I will try to explain. Basically, they are an organisation which preserves and protects historic houses, gardens, coastline, forests, woods, beaches, farmland, islands, archaeological remains, nature reserves, villages and pubs in the UK and opens them up for the public to view. I am a member of the National Trust along with my parents and they are mostly funded by the membership subscriptions. You can visit if you are not a member but you would have to pay to get it. If you take a look at their website, you will be able to find out more about them if you wanted to but there might be a National Trust for where you are from, so take a look.

Lanhydrock is a huge country house and estate with a church and a number of gardens near Bodmin. I have been there once before but it was nice to refresh my memory.

At the minute, I have a but of an obsession with old vintage hard-back books. i just think they are so beautiful, anyone else? Hopefully I can start a collection or something.

After leaving we got straight back on the motorway to Crantock, which was where we were staying.

I'll post some of the pictures I took in the gardens in the next post, but let me know what you think of this post?
